Cause Details – Group 2: Youth, Employment And Innovation

Group 2: SDG 8 & 9

Youth, Employment And Innovation

“Unemployment is one of the major problems of the youth, but with innovation, it can get better”

Cause Overview – Why This Cause?

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

To promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work for all by 2030

SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

To Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation by 2030.

In 2019, 22% of the world’s youth were not engaged in either education, employment or training. This was mainly as a result of the dwindling job opportunities coupled with the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, if measures are put in place to ensure innovation and industrialization, then there is a high chance that the situation can be improved upon.

Inclusive and sustainable industrialization, together with innovation and infrastructure, can unleash dynamic and competitive economic forces that generate employment and income. They play a key role in introducing and promoting new technologies, facilitating international trade and enabling the efficient use of resources.

Why Have We Decided To Partake In This Cause?

Entrepreneurship and employment are fundamental to the mission of TTCJN. As captured in our mission, we hope

To train and mentor students and help them to gain real working experience whilst still in school, with the aim of tackling graduate unemployment. Whilst at it, we imbue the sense of selflessness and patriotism in them through volunteerism activities.

So basically, our entrepreneurial operations and activities are in line with these particular SDGs and The Telescope international is a youth and student development organisation. Hence, anything that affects the youth, is of great interest and of great concern to the organization. We believe that we can help the world achieve the SDGs 8 & 9 through our operations and activities.

I’m very happy and privileged that to have experienced and benefited from the volunteerism programme of TTCJN. I was having some problems with my maths, but the new strategies and methods our senior brothers and sisters came to teach helped me a lot. Thank you TTCJN and The Telescope International.

In our community, education had always been a challenge and our children had been having results which were not so good. But ever since your organization started this programme, I’ve seen some improvements in my son’s performance. Please keep on doing it.

It is always a joy to give back to society. I have always wanted to make an impact in society but the volunteerism programmes of TTCJN have really helped me to better understand how to properly carry out my volunteering activities and become a role model as well.
