Whizzy Academy with the support of The Telescope International, has organized a five-week digital marketing training for students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
Digital skills have become the currency of success in both employability and entrepreneurship. They have the potential to drastically reduce the hiking rate of unemployment in the country by offering graduates the opportunity to effectively develop their own enterprises or to become more efficient at their workplaces.
Unfortunately, digital skills have not been effectively incorporated into the academic curriculum of the various tertiary institutions. Thus, denying graduates of the myriad of opportunities offered by digital skills and digital marketing.
It is on this backdrop that Whizzy Academy, with the support of The Telescope International, decided to organize a five-week digital marketing training event for the students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
This event was in line with the Corporate Social Responsibilities and Free Digital Skills Training programmes of both organizations.
The absence of effective digital skills in the academic curriculum is one of the reasons why The Telescope International came up with a 12-week Social Media Marketing Expert programme that has been designed to not only help participants to understand Social Media Marketing, but to also have the assistance of coaches and mentors.
The digital marketing training event at KNUST started on Friday, 25th March, 2022 and ended on Monday, 25th April, 2022. It took place at the Kumasi Business Incubator (KBI) Hub.
In all, over three hundred and eighty (380) students were trained in various aspects of digital marketing after which they became knowledgeable in keyword research, competitor analysis, search engine optimization, search engine marketing, etc.
Addressing the students, the Director of Whizzy Academy, Mr. Samuel Aboagye indicated that, one of the objectives of the training was to enable economic opportunities for young people in tertiary institutions by equipping them with digital marketing skills.
“There are a series of opportunities that you can take advantage of if you have the right digital marketing skills. Our mission as an organization is to train students and help them to gain valuable working experience whilst still in school. This training package is very valuable and if you take it seriously, you can even get employed whilst still in school.” Mr. David Twumasi-Minkah, the Founder and Continental Executive Director of The Telescope International, added.
The Telescope International has a lot of programmes, projects and events under its Entreprneurship Hub. They are all managed by The Telescope Training and Mentorship Academy (TMA).
The digital marketing training event at KNUST was a worthwhile experience and most student attendees showed their appreciation after the event. Furthermore, the university authorities also congratulated the organizers for the good work done.
